Violet Frances Bouwes van Nood

Here she is, our new little world. She was born on October 25th at 3:37 am (or for all of you in Europe, at plain old 3:37). She weighed 9 pounds and was 20 inches at birth. She is beautiful and healthy in every way. Genevieve was a super star for 26 hours and 7 minutes. My love, respect and devotion to her grew three fold for what she did.

We could not have done it, I repeat, we could not have done it, without Polly (our wonderful midwife). We love you Polly. You gave us everything we needed and made it possible to do everything we did. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. (She is holding Violet in the fifth picture down.)

Shannon, our birthing nurse, was without question, the best nurse we could have asked for . She gave great suggestions and cheared Gen on at just the right time.

Doctor Ekhart gave Gen the final words she needed for the final push.

As for me, I am a changed man.

The Official Due Date-October 22nd

Well, it is the official due date for our little one. I think that she was just waiting for her grandparents to move into town. Nick and Joan are just starting to unpack and the weather is great. I think she might also be waiting to be a Scorpio, whatever that means. Gen thinks that she doesn't want to share a birthday with her cousin Iris. Gen has been enjoying the time off so far and is "patiently" waiting. This gives her a chance to try out the new glidding rocker and admire the paper lights that I just hung today.

Some pictures of the beautiful mom

Genevieve has finished her final week of teaching and we are now just waiting for labor to begin. No, really, we are. Of course with the waiting comes some photographs to let you see her in July and now in October.

So here we were a year ago.

So here Genevieve and I are a year ago. Now we are days aways from adding a new little one to the family. Stay tuned for upcoming pictures and stories.
